The EchoTalent guide
How to tailor your CV to a job
Make the connection between the role and your evidence clear.
Find the actual requirements
Separate essential requirements from preferences. Highlight the recurring responsibilities, tools and skills in the job description.
Match each requirement to evidence
For each important requirement, find a role, project or qualification that demonstrates it. If you do not have a skill, do not add it just to match a keyword.
Reorder before you rewrite
Move the most relevant bullets and skills higher. Update your short profile to reflect this role. Keep titles, employers and dates accurate.
Check the whole application
Make sure the CV and any cover letter agree. Save a role-specific copy with a clear filename, such as Firstname-Lastname-CV.pdf. Keep the job description so you can prepare for an interview.
