The EchoTalent guide
How to structure a clear CV
Start with the information a reader needs most.
Put contact details first
Use your name, a working email address, a phone number if appropriate and your city or region. Add a relevant portfolio link. Avoid unnecessary sensitive details such as an identity number or full home address.
Write a focused introduction
In two or three lines, explain your relevant experience and the kind of role you are targeting. Replace generic claims such as “hard-working professional” with a specific area of work or skill.
Make experience easy to scan
List roles in reverse chronological order with the organisation and dates. Use short bullets for responsibilities and contributions. If your work history is limited, relevant education, projects or volunteering can come earlier.
Finish with useful details
Include relevant skills, education and training. Omit sections that add no information. Keep headings and dates consistent, and follow the employer’s requested file type.
