The EchoTalent guide
How long should your CV be?
Use enough space for relevant evidence, without padding.
Follow the application instructions
An employer’s page limit and required sections come first. Academic, research and some specialist applications may ask for a different format from a general job CV.
Let relevance decide
One page can work well for a first role or a concise work history. Two pages can be useful when there is more relevant experience. Treat these as starting points, not universal rules.
Edit before shrinking the text
Remove repeated duties, irrelevant detail and vague introductions. Keep the font comfortable to read and give sections space. Do not squeeze everything into tiny text to hit a page count.
Check the export
Review the last page for orphaned lines or nearly empty sections. Open the final PDF or document to confirm that the layout survived export.
